Take the New York State Thruway to Albany - Exit 24. At exit 24 is the beginning of the Adirondack Northway (Route 87). Take 87 NORTH to Exit 30 (Keene, Keene Valley, Lake Placid) as you exit the Northway at Exit 30 turn left onto Route 9. Follow Rt. 9 into Rt. 73. Remain on Route 73 until Lake Placid. At the stoplight take a left and continue straight through the next light. You will be on Main St. Remain on Main St. until you see the Hilton on your left, at the fork in the road remain straight and the Mirror Lake Inn will be about 500 ft. up on your left.
Drive Times: From NYC: 5 hrs; Albany: 2 1/2 hrs.

Take Massachusetts Turnpike (I-90) to Albany. Pick up I-787 north to Cohoes. Connect with Route 7 west to I-87 north. Take I-90 (NYS Thruway) east to Exit 36 (Syracuse). Pick up I-81 north and follow to Watertown. Take Route 3 and follow it east to Saranac Lake, then follow Route 86 east. Route 86 will take you directly into Lake Placid. At the bottom of the hill, the Hilton will be on your right, take a left. The Inn will be about 500 feet ahead on your left.
Drive Times: From Buffalo: 5 hours; Rochester: 4 hours; Syracuse: 3 hours.

Take Route 12N to Route 28; stay on Route 28 through Old Forge, Inlet, Blue Mountain Lake; Route 28 turns into Route 30; stay on Route 30 through Long Lake and into Tupper Lake. In Tupper Lake follow signs for Route 3 (a right turn). Follow Route 3 into Saranac Lake. GO straight at all lights and Route 3 will become Route 86. Route 86 will take you directly into Lake Placid. At the bottom of the hill, the Hilton will be on your right, take a left. The Inn will be about 500 feet ahead on your left. During bad weather, we usually recommend taking the Thruway to Albany, then the Northway (I-87) North. See "From Albany". These roads are in good condition.

Lake Placid Airport
The Lake Placid Municipal Airport is about one mile south of the village on Route 73. Hours of operation: 9 a.m.- 5 p.m. daily. 8 a.m. - 8 p.m. in July & August. Runway: 4,200 feet. Services: Air Charter flights from most airports, scenic flights, tie down, and repairs. 518-523-2473.
Adirondack Regional Airport
Airport Identifier: SLK
The Adirondack Regional Airport provides the only commercial air service to the Adirondack Park. Located in Lake Clear, 16 miles from Lake Placid, it offers easy access to the entire region. Hertz and Enterprise rental cars are available on site. Commercial flights available through Cape Air: 800-352-0714 or www.flycapeair.com. Rail Service
Amtrak operates between New York City and Montreal - local stop in Westport, N.Y. (40 miles from Lake Placid). For information call 1-800-USA-RAIL. Shuttle bus service to Lake Placid must be arranged with a reservation: 518-523-0294. For ski/train packages to Lake Placid, have your travel agent call GoGo Tours at 1-800-225-6815.
Other stops along Lake Champlain include Ticonderoga, Port Henry, and Port Kent.
Ferry Service
Burlington, VT - Port Kent, NY
Crossing time is about one hour.
Charlotte, VT - Essex, NY
Crossing time is about 20 minutes.
Grand Isle, VT - Plattsburgh, NY
Trips run year-round. Crossing time is approximately 12 minutes.
Shoreham, VT - Ticonderoga, NY
