Media tell Mirror Lake Inn resort story

Lake Placid – Over the course of four decades, the Mirror Lake Inn Resort and Spa, top rated among Lake Placid resorts, has received noteworthy coverage of its Four Diamond level of hospitality.

Whether it’s another AAA honor, now at 39 straight years for lodging, or an extension of its Wine Spectator Award, currently 23 years running, or is fine dining establishment, The View Restaurant at 16 consecutive years of Four Diamond New York food and wine excellence, there has been no shortage of editorial coverage of this iconic Upstate New York resort.

In recent months, a prestigious collection of media outlets has sung the praises of an establishment referred to as the finest among the best hotels in Lake Placid. In no particular order here’s a summary for this award-winning hotel.

A search of the best hotels in Lake Placid will inevitably produce the Mirror Lake Inn. We are very proud and humbled by these plaudits. Here’s what some major travel media outlets are saying.

Conde Nast Traveler is one of the bibles of the travel industry. Their review of the Mirror Lake Inn perfectly summarized the resort’s goal in welcoming each guest. “Mirror Lake Inn wrote the book on customer service. They welcome you back with open arms and treat you like family.”

In July, Travel + Leisure readers decided their five favorite New York State resorts. The Mirror Lake Inn landed in the number two position. It was top ranked in Lake Placid and the Adirondacks. The criteria were rooms/facilities, location, service, food and value.

Writer Kaitlyn Rosati featured the Mirror Lake Inn earlier this month as the place to stay in her piece in TimeOut. Rosati, in her lead, wrote, “Set against the dreamy backdrop of charming villages and the dramatic Adirondacks, it’s no surprise that the most scenic lake in New York goes to Lake Placid.”

Another time-honored travel publication, Shermans Travel, recently updated their review of our hotel resort.

“In the warmer months, the landscaped gardens bloom with colorful flora. Inside, stone fireplaces, wood-paneling and elegant, Colonial-style furnishings create a distinctly cozy aesthetic,” said writer Lauren Dana Ellman.

The Travel took on the subject of hotels with the best fall programming. Lake Placid and the Mirror Lake Inn, given its autumn splendor, was a natural given that our foliage has already begun to change.

“It’s a destination that leaves guests spellbound,” penned Lakeisha Ethans. “From its vantage point, nature’s masterpiece unfolds in all its glory – a kaleidoscope of majestic trees adorned in robes of crimson, orange, and yellow.”

A top ski hotel in the Adirondacks, the Mirror Lake Inn has been a regular nominee and medal winner over the years in USA Today’s 10Best polls in the categories of Best Waterfront Hotel as well as Best Ski Hotel.

In the November/December issue of AAA Magazine, keep an eye out for us in a feature story titled Best of Scenic View.

Finally, each month, The View Restaurant’s Curtiss Hemm, Executive Chef as well as Food and Beverage Director, appears on North Country Public Radio. Whether featuring seasonal foods or appealing sweets, Chef Hemm, who also operates the Carriage House Cooking School in Peru, N.Y., takes listeners inside his culinary world with ideas they can incorporate into their own kitchens.
