Lake Placid – Here in Lake Placid, we are blessed with two uniquely different lakes for our enjoyment.
Mirror Lake and Lake Placid are separated by just a two-lane roadway, but the vibe of each couldn’t be much different.

Mirror Lake in Upstate New York is small, calmer, more tranquil. It’s one of the most attractive non-motorized lakes in New York. It’s inhabited by canoes, kayaks, peddle boats and sun fishes. Anglers can be seen casting from a distance. Fish are jumping and it’s very likely you will see some do just that. Mirror Lake appeals to quiet luxury travelers in New York.
The AAA Four Diamond Mirror Lake Inn, among the best lakefront hotels in the Adirondacks, sits on a hill, back from the lake but overlooking it, nevertheless. Mirror Lake is so chill that the hotel that bears its name offers one of New York’s best private beaches.
Mirror Lake’s quiet luxury is classical music compared to Lake Placid’s rock and roll. Yes, there is appeal to both, and we are walking distance to Lake Placid. Speaking of walking, you can trek around Mirror Lake from the hotel’s front door. It’s a low impact walk of no more than 3 miles, all paved, and brings you through Main Street where you can window shop, actually shop, dine, get a beverage and relax in several parks.
If you’re into the more raucous tunes and a bigger scene, Lake Placid works for you. Motorized boats, tours of the lake, water skiing, jet skiing, boat launches, marinas – it’s all there for you. Mirror Lake? Nope. Completely different.
But that’s the beauty of it in our community. In very few places can you have it both ways. Here, it’s different because you can.
