LAKE PLACID – The AAA Four Diamond Mirror Lake Inn has announced that it will partner with Lisa Ballard and offer a three-day Your Turn Women’s Ski Clinic. The week-day event at Whiteface Mountain is set for March 2-4.
Who is Lisa Ballard?
Lisa is a native Adirondacker, having grown up in nearby Saranac Lake, N.Y., and began to ski as soon as she could walk. Lisa later skied at Dartmouth College, the U.S. Ski Team and the women’s pro tour. She swept every division of the 1991 U.S. Masters Alpine Championships in her age group. Since then, she’s claimed over 100 Masters titles, and will bring that knowledge and talent to the Your Turn Women’s Ski Clinic. But it gets better – Lisa will be joined on the hill by Andrew Weibrecht, Olympic silver and bronze medalist, and resident ski ambassador for the Mirror Lake Inn which is owned by his parents.
What is the Women’s Ski Clinic program schedule?
Activities begin with a social touch on Monday, March 2 with a 6 PM welcome reception. Then it’s off to Whiteface Mountain, site of the 1980 Winter Olympic alpine skiing events, over the next two days.
After a continental breakfast at the hotel on March 3, you will ski the entire day with Lisa and Andrew. The program will feature trends in women’s ski gear, demoing equipment and video analysis. When the lifts close for the day, you can hit the scene at The Cottage Café, Lake Placid’s hip apres ski spot. The day will conclude with Boot Camp to assist you with ski boots that are warm, comfortable and perform perfectly for you.
The final day, after fueling on the continental breakfast, will offer specialty clinics, depending on weather and conditions. You’ll learn the art of skiing gates, strategizing the bumps, holding the steeps, cruising powder and arcing through the firm stuff. Participants will continue to demo gear. There will be more video analysis, apres ski fun and door prizes.
