Our Olympic Legacy

What trip to Lake Placid would be complete without a visit to the 1932 and 1980 Olympic Venues? Visit the 1980 Olympic Arena, site of the 1980 “Miracle On Ice” hockey game, and home to the Lake Placid Olympic Museum. Skate on the Olympic Speed-skating Oval, where USA’s Eric Heiden won an historic 5 Olympic Gold Medals in 1980.

Watch local and international athletes train year round at the Lake Placid Olympic Ski Jumping Center, and enjoy the view from the top of the 120-meter ski jump. Walk the length of the Olympic Bobsled and Luge Track. If you’re a thrill seeker, enjoy a ride in a real four-man Olympic bobsled piloted by a professional driver.

Finally, head out to Whiteface Mountain or Mt. Van Hoevenberg to ski on the tracks and trails used in the 1980 Olympic Games.
