The green thumbs at the Mirror Lake Inn welcome guests to our first ever FlowerFest weekend June 19-21. The resort’s landscaping crew is renowned for its stunning and meticulous presentation across all five acres of the resort. Now you can meet the savants of the soil for a weekend of learning and socializing.
Participating guests at our quintessential Adirondack resort are invited to a Meet and Greet with the grounds staff on June 19 from 6-7 PM. Light hors d’oeuvres will be served alongside a cash bar.
Saturday gets underway with a sumptuous breakfast in The View Restaurant from 7:30-8:30. Now you will be ready for a seminar from 8:30 AM-12 noon. Guests will learn how to create a good base, which will ultimately lead to a good “show”. Our team will share their secrets of soil testing, especially important if you come from a colder climate. Then it’s on to bed preparation, timing your plantings, fertilizing and feeding, and finally, there will be a discussion of annuals versus perennials.
Participants may have lunch on their own from 12-1:30.
The learning continues thereafter with a Q and A session and a walking tour of the gardens at the Inn. You’ll enjoy this stroll, appropriately, with a glass of wine if you so choose. The remainder of the day and evening at this finest of Adirondack hotels are left to our guests to explore the village of Lake Placid, or simply relax in our spa, private beach or outdoor pool. The choices are many and they are yours.
On Sunday, breakfast is very leisurely and offered from 7:30-10:30, at which time the group be organized into a guided departure for the Whiteface Club and Resort, and a tour of the gardens conducted by a staff member. Check-out occurs prior to the short drive to the Whiteface Club. The Mirror Lake Inn’s sister property has the region’s most breath-taking creation which sets the backdrop for the many weddings hosted by the Whiteface Club.
If you are a gardener or a flower aficionado at any level, this inaugural event is sure to grow on you!
