LAKE PLACID – There may never be a better time to work in Upstate New York, and the Mirror Lake Inn Resort and Spa is a leader for those who would consider employment in the hospitality industry. Since the Adirondack region reopened last June after a three-month COVID shutdown, it seems that the world has discovered this pristine locale in Northern New York.

To be perfectly clear, we aren’t just looking for summer help. Our business is mandating that we seek full-time, year-round employees in all departments. In fact, we consider this not just a job opportunity, but a career opportunity. There are many Mirror Lake Inn employees who have spent the better part of 20 years with us. One such employee at The Cottage Café, our lakeside pub, recently retired after serving patrons for 30 years! We have housekeepers and maintenance team members who number 20-25 years of service, and sales representatives and accountants who’ve numbered 30 years or more.

The inn reopened on June 29, 2020 after an expenditure of $500,000 in COVID health and safety protocols. Throughout the property, we’ve been employing ultraviolet light technology on our floors and ceilings, thermal imaging, hand sanitizers, remote check-in, safety separation at reception areas, removal of dining room tables to accommodate social distancing in The View Restaurant, along with fire pits on the grounds.

In doing so, we weren’t just interested in the health of our guests, but it started with staff safety. The Mirror Lake Inn is family-owned – the Weibrechts live close to the hotel – and treat staff members like an extension of their family. Staff health and happiness is a big part of the hotel’s success – the theory being that if employees are happy and having fun, they’ll convey that attitude to our guests.

Depending on the specific position that you seek, employees can earn anywhere from an average of $15 to the equivalent of $68 per hour. At the moment, we have openings in all departments. You may also send resumes to


New hires become eligible for health, dental and vision coverage after 60 days. Many businesses require 90 days for this eligibility. Guardian Accident, Critical Illness and Disability Insurance can be purchased. A $25,000 life insurance policy is available after three months of employment at NO COST to you. Additional coverage is offered for purchase.

The Mirror Lake Inn offers a 401k pension plan (you must be employed for more than one year, have worked 1,000 hours or more, and be at least 21 years old).

You will be eligible for vacation time after completing one year of continuous employment, and staff members accrue sick time. Bereavement leave is also available as is workers compensation for an on-the-job injury.

When you live and work in one of the greatest playgrounds on Planet Earth, you can assume that we can provide you with some related bennies. If you enjoy a few rounds of golf each season, you’ll have access to the Whiteface Club Golf Course on the grounds of our sister property, the Whiteface Club and Resort. It’s just a three-mile drive from the inn. The golf is free, while the cart fee is only $5 per employee. Walking is encouraged so you can use the $5 on a post-round beverage. This employee policy is in effect on weekdays and holiday afternoons.

Skiers and snowboarders have not been forgotten. The inn purchases several corporate passes from Whiteface Mountain and dispenses them equally among employees for the day. These are freebees that you may pick up at day’s end for the following day, and return it as soon as the lifts close and you are back in town. We also rent outstanding ski gear in our Mirror Lake Inn Ski Shop. Just check with double Olympic medalist Andrew Weibrecht and he’ll hook you up with a great price. Andrew and brother Ethan, both with decades of ski racing in their backgrounds, can also prep your own gear if you so choose.

There’s also complimentary use of the Nordic ski trails for Mirror Lake Inn employees at the Whiteface Club, but equipment is not included.

We also have incorporated a wellness program that pays a maximum of $500 for participating in the program whereby the employee can earn points which equate to a dollar amount.

Perks are also available for lodging and dining, great every day and especially when the family is in from out of town. Both The View Restaurant and The Cottage Café offer 20 % discounts, availability based on the nature of business.

An employee overnight stay is only $75, while we also offer discounted Friends and Family rates, both based on availability.
