Lake Placid – When World Cup ski jumping returned in 2023, it had been 33 years since Lake Placid in Upstate New York had hosted the world’s best ski jumpers, and 18 years since the USA saw these high flyers in person anywhere.
Not only did that change three years ago, the International Ski Federation was so impressed with the host organizers and community that it has returned here yearly.
The next iteration of this elite level ski jumping event occurs Feb. 6-9 as once again our two-time Olympic village welcomes the return of World Cup ski jumping.
And not only is it back, but for the first time ever, women’s World Cup ski jumping will be held in the United States.
Although the field is yet to be completely set, you can rest assured it will be of Olympic caliber, with medal winners of the recent past coming to the Adirondacks to fly high at the recently renovated Olympic Jumping Complex on Route 73.

This World Cup meet in Lake Placid will feature individual men’s and women’s events along with a mixed team competition, all from the Hill Size 128 complex. That’s the larger of the two jumping hills.
In recent years, New York State has invested $550 million in Lake Placid’s sports infrastructure, bringing the sites up to international specifications. The Olympic Jumping Complex was among the first venues to be upgraded, and receiving this event was the result of that financial infusion.
The Mirror Lake Inn, the finest Lake Placid resort experience, is just 3.5 miles from the jump site where there is free parking.
