Lake Placid events to close 2025

Lake Placid – The winter event season in Lake Placid kicks off in November with exciting competitions that have Olympic overtones.

It all begins with Skate America from Nov. 14-16. This figure skating event, sanctioned by the International Skating Union, will bring athletes to Lake Placid looking to advance to the Milan/Cortina Olympic Winter Games in February. Skate America will be held in the Herb Brooks Arena, just a one-mile stroll from the Mirror Lake Inn.

Other events:

–Nov. 28-29 / A Thanksgiving hockey special, also in the Herb Brooks Arena, brings 4 NCAA Division I schools to the ice. Watch the Adirondack Winter Invitational with Clarkson University and St. Lawrence University both from Upstate New York, joining the University of Alaska-Fairbanks and the University of Massachusetts-Lowell.

–Dec. 19-20 / World Cup luge presented by the International Luge Federation. The fastest athletes on ice hit the track at Mt. Van Hoevenberg, outside Lake Placid. For many athletes, this will be their final opportunity to qualify for the 2026 Winter Olympics.

If you prefer non-athletic endeavors, we have several excellent choices:

–Dec. 5-7 / Girls Getaway Weekend at the Mirror Lake Inn. Round up your mom, sister, cousins and besties and spend quality time together with us.

–Dec. 12-14 / Holiday Village Stroll in Lake Placid. This is the perfect way to get in the holiday spirit. Scavenger hunts, tree-lighting, food tastings, and of course, appearances by jolly ol’ St. Nick himself.

Of course, while all this is happening, please feel free to bring your skis, boards and skates as trails will be open at Whiteface Mountain, the Olympic Sports Complex and the Sheffield Speed Skating Oval. It’s all part of a Lake Placid Adirondack getaway which offers activities to see and do, and a great way to end 2025!
