Lake Placid set to host many 2026 Olympians

Lake Placid – The Olympic Winter Games Milano Cortina 2026 are now over…..or are they?

Here in Lake Placid, the good times continue this week with many 2026 Olympians competing here.

It starts March 19-22 with the Stifel LP Cross Country World Cup Ski Finals, featuring American greats Jessie Diggins in her retirement races, and her teammates Ben Ogden and Gus Schumacher.

US cross country skiers display Olympic medals

US skiers Ben Ogden and Gus Schumacher combined for a cross-country team silver medal in Italy

Diggins brings her career Olympic gold, silver and 2 bronze medals to our community, including a recent bronze. Ogden captured 2 silver medals in Italy, one of them in the team event with Schumacher.

And let’s not forget Norwegian Johannes Klaebo. He’ll bring his 6 gold medals from Italy to the Adirondacks.

We’ll also expect to see some members of the USA Hockey women’s gold medal team in action in the Lake Placid Olympic Center during the ECAC Hockey Women’s Championships March 6-7.

Finally, together with the cross-country World Cup, the Village of Lake Placid and Town of North Elba will welcome the men’s
ECAC Hockey Championships to Upstate New York March 20-21. Princeton meets Cornell in one of the semi-final games. preceded by Clarkson and Dartmouth. Games begin on March 20 at 4 PM. The winners meet for the title on Saturday at 5:00. An automatic bid to the NCAA Championships is on the line.

While all this is occurring, enjoy our ski and ride season (based on snow conditions) at venues such as Whiteface Mountain, Whiteface Club and Resort and Mt. Van Hoevenberg.

And remember….the Mirror Lake Inn is located right in the middle of all this activity, including walking distance to our Main Street shopping and dining district.
