LAKE PLACID – Guests of the Mirror Lake Inn Resort and Spa have enabled the hotel to proudly claim it is among the very best lake resorts in Upstate New York.
In 2020 and 2021, the Mirror Lake Inn has been voted second and third best waterfront property nationwide in USA Today’s 10Best polling. Both years it was top ranked in the Northeast.
The AAA Four Diamond property, holding this lofty rank for the past 38 straight years, offers 128 units all overlooking serene Mirror Lake and the neighboring Adirondack High Peaks. Mirror Lake is off limits to motorized vessels thus creating a peaceful vacation environment.

Of course, when you’re so close to the water, activities abound that are the envy of inland visitors. Let’s start with our private sandy beach with complimentary boats on a first-come, first served basis. Relax under the sun, collect that all important vitamin D, and refresh in Mirror Lake.
The Mirror Lake Inn’s lakeside pub, The Cottage Café, is a locals’ favorite and just a few steps from the beach. The setting enables you to nearly put your feet in the lake as you enjoy lunch, dinner or a refreshing beverage. In fact, many Mirror Lake paddlers have sidled up to our docks, tied down their canoes or kayaks, and stopped in for lunch. Everyone can enjoy this hip establishment either inside the restaurant, or on the deck, patio or tent.
This year, the ice went out on Mirror Lake in early April, so we anticipate that swimming might come sooner at this lake resort in Upstate New York. If you have a wet suit, however, we suggest bringing it.
Not only do adults and children love our water sports, but the family dog also has access to Mirror Lake. The hotel has 40 dog-friendly rooms, and on a hot day, we all know how the pooches like to make a beeline for a refreshing dip.
Finally, one of the best aspects of time spent at our waterfront, is its close proximity to daily house-made chocolate chip cookies.
