Mirror Lake Inn adds accolades from Conde Nast Traveler and Michelin Guide

Lake Placid -As the Mirror Lake Inn Resort and Spa concludes record-setting summer and fall seasons, two prominent travel industry organizations continue to place this luxe resort hotel among the finest in the country.

In its 39th Readers’ Choice Awards, conducted by Conde Nast Traveler, the AAA Four Diamond Mirror Lake Inn placed among the top six in the combined Northeast and Mid-Atlantic regions. The iconic 101-year-old property, which encompasses seven acres, has collected this honor for seven of the past 10 years. Nearly 800,000 readers cast votes in the recent polling.

This Readers’ Choice Awards news was followed by the Inn’s third consecutive Michelin Guide One Key designation.

“Discerning travelers worldwide have come to use Conde Nast Traveler and Michelin Guide to point them in the right direction when it comes to upscale properties that offer unique and memorable experiences,” said Ed Weibrecht, owner of the Mirror Lake Inn the past 50 years.

“Certainly, we are humbled to receive these distinctions, but we also look at them as recognition of our staff and the wonderful job they do in making our house feel like a home to thousands of people. I want to congratulate and thank every Mirror Lake Inn department for making these honors happen.”

Among the comments by Conde Nast Traveler readers:

“Mirror Lake wrote the book on customer service. They welcome you back with open arms and treat you like family.”

“An absolute must is a massage in the spa.”

Similarly, a Michelin Guide One Key hotel is a property that provides a very special stay, exceeding expectations. These lodging properties are typically boutique, or as is the case with the Mirror Lake Inn, independent establishments with distinctive character, attentive service, and authentic experiences. They are ideal for travelers who value personality and authenticity.

These honors were preceded in June by the Inn’s AAA Four Diamond designations: 42 consecutive years for the hotel and 19 straight years for The View Restaurant. This is the only combination of Four Diamond lodging and dining in Lake Placid.

“We’re happy to say that the Mirror Lake Inn continues to evolve as a resort and in the amenities that we offer our guests,” said Andrew Weibrecht, Vice President of the Inn, son of Ed and winner of two Olympic medals in alpine skiing. “What makes it all work is how the staff interacts with our visitors. They are great at and genuinely enjoy connecting with our guests.”

In terms of new amenities, since last year’s awards, the resort was busy over the winter, adding a new game room with billiards, shuffleboard, heated outdoor terrace, business center and living room. Shortly thereafter, a Nordic Spa came online, with outdoor hot tub heated to 105 degrees and adjacent sauna at 155 degrees. When the Upstate New York weather broke in the spring, the Inn purchased an eight-passenger, electric tour boat and has been taking passengers on scenic excursions around Mirror Lake since the summer months.

With ski season approaching, the Mirror Lake Inn offers an exclusive on-snow experience,
Ski With Andrew, where guests can tackle the trails of nearby Whiteface Mountain with Andrew Weibrecht. Skiers must be of at least intermediate ability. Also, Mirror Lake Inn is the lone hotel in Lake Placid with an onsite ski shop that offers equipment rentals and ski tuning.

Other outstanding experiences include:

–Ski With Andrea Henkel Burke, a double Olympic gold medalist in biathlon from Germany. Henkel Burke will improve your cross-country ski technique and works with visitors who are lodged anywhere in the Adirondack region

–The Inn also has two Culinary Weekends, two Girls Getaway Weekends, and a pair of Murder/Mystery Weekends in their experiential lineup.
