Flaming Leaves Festival

Flaming Leaves Festival, a fall favorite, returns to Lake Placid

For two years, the COVID-19 pandemic kept the Flaming Leaves Festival down but never out. This Upstate New York autumn event at the Olympic Ski Jumping Complex is back Oct. 7-9. The timing is perfect as the Lake Placid Adirondack region enters the peak of the foliage season.

Over the years, the Flaming Leaves Festival has combined a series of unique, eclectic activities and brought them into the modernized and updated jumping complex.

Consider the AAA Four Diamond Mirror Lake Inn as your home for this popular event. The Inn is merely a two-minute walk to Main Street shopping and dining. In addition, our deluxe comforts include newly redesigned suites, Four Diamond dining in The View Restaurant and its accompanying The View Lounge, the coolest pub in town in The Cottage Café on Mirror Lake, and a world class spa/salon/indoor pool/fitness center. If you return for any of Lake Placid’s summer events, we also present a private sandy beach and heated outdoor pool. Our friendly reservation staff is located at the hotel and stands ready to make your stay as luxurious as possible. Just call 518-523-2544.

The Inn is located just 3.5 miles from the Flaming Leaves Festival site. Given that this is occurring on a double holiday weekend (Columbus Day and Canadian Thanksgiving), please give yourself plenty of time to reach the jumping complex.

The Flaming Leaves Festival is about experiences for the whole family

It starts with FIS Continental Cup ski jumping featuring an international field soaring from the two recently modernized jump hills. These feature artificial surfaces allowing competitions to take place in the summer and fall. Men and women will compete on the hill size 100 and 128 on Friday and Saturday. Get an upclose look and you’ll swear these athletes are sailing to the clouds!

Spectators would do well to follow the top competitors as they one day will compete in the World Cup and Olympic Games.

Gates open at 9 AM and 12 PM, respectively the first two days, with numerous activities to keep the kids entertained.

This high-flying ski jumping action would satisfy most locations, but not here. In addition to these athletic marvels, patrons will also enjoy seasonal foods, brews, arts and crafts and live music. This all takes place in our great outdoors, framed by the colors of the season.

Vendors from around the North Country will be on site; speak to these area proprietors and then purchase items that will have you recalling the fun you had at this festival long after it’s over.

Music is part of the memory

Music lovers have traditionally gotten their groove on at the Flaming Leaves Festival. The 2022 edition will be no different with three musical acts in the lineup.

The double headliners on Saturday are Sonic Boom (4:30 PM) and House on Fire (9 PM). The curtain on the festival comes down Sunday night at 8:00 with The Uprooted Band featuring Michael Glabicki of Rusted Root. When Glabicki performed with Rusted Root, the band had a massive local following and that’s expected to continue at the jumping complex.
