John Brown’s Farm
John Brown’s Farm – This link opens in a new browser tab. is the resting place and homestead of the world-famous abolitionist often credited with sparking the start of the U.S. Civil War. Captured following a failed raid against the U.S. Arsenal at Harper’s Ferry in 1859, Brown sought to arm the enslaved peoples of the South and lead a rebellion against their oppressors. Though he was executed before the start of the war, Brown’s legacy lives on in his beautifully restored Lake Placid homestead.
