FlowerFest in Lake Placid in Upstate New York

Lake Placid – The green thumbs at the Mirror Lake Inn in Upstate New York welcome guests to our second FlowerFest Sept. 12-14.

The Lake Placid resort’s landscaping crew, led by Jill Robinson and Aaron Karpp, is renowned for its stunning and meticulous presentation across all seven acres of this Adirondack lakeside resort. Now you can meet the savants of the soil for several days of learning and socializing.

Our floral presentation will be in full bloom for FlowerFest Sept. 12-14

Participating guests at our quintessential Adirondack resort are invited to a meet and greet with members of the grounds staff on Monday, Sept. 12. Light hors d’oeuvres will be served alongside a cash bar.

Tuesday, Sept. 13, begins with a sumptuous

breakfast in The View Restaurant. Now you’ll be ready for a seminar that will take you all the way to lunch time. Guests will learn how to create a good base, which will ultimately lead to a good “show”.

Our team will share their secrets of soil testing, which is especially important if you come from a colder climate. Then it’s on to bed preparation, timing your plantings, fertilizing and feeding, and finally, there will be a discussion of annuals versus perennials.

Participants may have lunch on their own.

The learning continues thereafter with a Q and A session and a walking tour of the gardens at the Inn. You’ll enjoy this stroll, appropriately, with a glass of wine, if you so choose. The remainder of the day and evening at Lake Placid’s finest hotel are left to our guests to explore the village of Lake Placid, or simply relax in our spa, library, living room, private beach or outdoor pool. The choices are many and they are yours.

After another hearty breakfast on Wednesday morning, the group will be organized into a guided departure for our sister property, the Whiteface Club and Resort, and a tour of the gardens conducted by a staff member.

Check-out occurs prior to the short, three-mile drive to the Whiteface Club. This spectacular Adirondack property has the region’s most breath-taking creation which sets a stunning backdrop for the many weddings hosted there.

If you are a gardener or a flower aficionado at any level, FlowerFest is sure to grow on you!
